Today, we received this question on our forum:
I am almost up with all my unlisted items BUT I have over 35 pants/jeans (men and woman) that needs to be listed. I have such a hard time taking pictures of those; Please let me know how take pictures of them.
I only have a half size mannequins so I am not able to put them on those. I’ve tried putting them on the bed but I can not get high up enough to take a decent picture .
Photographing pants can be tricky!! Little kids pants are fine…but adult pants are a)HUGE and hard to photograph well and b)weird to lay flat. But, never fear—your stork friends are here!! Here are some suggestions this member received.
Member elainelynn suggests: I lay them flat on the floor on my big piece of background fabric. I do sometimes stand on a chair to get a better perspective. Once you get going, it’s easy. Pic of the front, pic of the back, done!
Another member Caroline suggests: I hang my on hangers and take photos outside – if they’re maternity pants or skirts I no longer bother with the manni – takes too much time I agree.
So there you have it! Tune in tomorrow for the next Daily Stork Tip!
I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day. Ours was great…we went to our local parade, and then to a ceremony to remember those from our community who have lost their lives while in service of our country. A memorable quote from the service struck me. “A soldier writes a blank check to The United States of America—payable for any amount, including their lives.” Thank you to everyone who has served.
Last few days for lifetime memberships! I had originally intended to end the promo tomorrow, but since then plans have changed and I will be out of the house on Wednesday and Thursday. Do you think 10 per day sounds unattainable? I promise you, it is not. A member of my challenge team listed 55 items in ONE DAY! Here is a question from a HCTS member about it…
My biggest struggle is listing. I worked ALL day yesterday while kids were in school and only got 8 done. I am so frustrated with myself. Everything was done for the items(still a ton more left) pics,editing,weighing-all I had to do was list. Why am I sooooo slow???I don’t know how some of you can get so many done.sigh……….
I have been there. Now I can list 10 per hour, if everything is done beforehand. Here’s what I do:
1)Have pictures completely done, items bagged, and everything (including a tape measure, drink, etc) for listing set up on the table. I have a shopping bag on the floor beside me. On a side note here, if your pictures are not bright and crisp, do not move forward. You can only use my minimal description method if you have GOOD pictures.
2)Take your items and group them in like item sets. You can do it by brand: Gap, Boden, Land’s End, or size: kids 7/8, mom’s 10, or type of item: skirts, books, etc. It saves a lot of time when you are listing to go from one like item to another.
3)Start listing. I keep my description short, but I think I included EVERYTHING that is essential. I have a kind of template in my brain…2-3 sentences per listing. It goes like this:
:descriptive word: :brand: :item: in :size:. (Insert a sentence here IF there are any unique qualities or flaws). In :condition:.
Measurements.
You can look at my listings here-pretty much all of my listings follow this format.
I usually sell between $750-1000 with very minimal effort using this system.

Oh Storks, I must apologize. Life has really gotten in the way of my blogging recently and I’m sorry for not being here with regularity. (I feel a New Years Resolution coming on…)
Right now, I have a couple of quick things to catch you up on.
I hope you are able to find a moment to relax and enjoy this holiday season. And now…I must return to my baking!
